72-Hour Emergency Kit: Meal-in-a-Bag Plan Challenge
These are quick, easy meals to keep you going in an emergency. Pack each meal in a gallon ziplock baggie and label it with the date you put the ingredients in it. This will help you keep the food dry and together when you need it.

Additional Items to Pack Separately:
- 3 gallons of water (1 gallon per person per day)
- Small bottle of olive oil or butter packets (adds calories and makes meals more satisfying)
- Salt and pepper packets
- Multivitamin tablets
- Small bottle of hot sauce or other preferred condiments
- Waterproof matches or lighter (if cooking is possible) Fire starters may be useful too.
- Collapsible cup and bowl
- Utensil set (if not included in individual bags)
Meal Preparation Notes:
- No cooking option: All meals can be eaten cold if necessary
- Minimal cooking: If you have access to hot water (from a camping stove or other heat source), the meals with rice, pasta, or oatmeal will be more appealing
- Water needs: Account for extra water needed for rehydrating or cooking certain items
- Rotation schedule: Mark each bag with date assembled and check every 6 months to replace any expiring items
